Buddha Eden Garden - Portugal

by - março 29, 2020

The Buddha Eden Garden is near of Bombarral, and it's one of the most unknown treasures of the country, probably the most beautiful themed gardens. It has around 40 ha and it's the biggest oriental garden in the whole Europe, with its gigantic reclining Buddha statue or the 2,200 individual replicas of China's famous Terra Cotta soldiers.

The idea came out to fight the destruction of the giant Buddhas in Bamyan, Afghanistan, in 2001, and that's a great choice to know other cultures without leaving Portugal. They call it an unfinished masterpiece, because every year they add something to it. Some new art, some new sculpture, some new flower type. When you enter, you will see a beautiful lake surrounded by turtles and palm trees, and then you have many Asian and African statues and art sculptures, and a small red "pagoda" in the middle of  the second lake.

How to visit:
The ticket is really cheap. Only 5 €... so, if I was from that part of Portugal, I would go every week to study, relax, or just do meditation and be with myself.
You'll need probably 2h30 to see it all and it's open every day from 9am-6pm, except 1 january and 25 december.
You can actually add a wine trip to this if you're interested. Well, we are famous for our wines!
There are many sites that offer accomodation + entrance tickets, and some tours from the nearest areas like Peniche or Caldas da Rainha, or you can just do a road trip in Portugal, that's actually a great idea!
