Probably one of the most beautiful and colorful mosques in the world, located in the heart of the muslism religion in this century, the beautiful country of Iran. Iran is on my bucketlist for so long for a bunch of reasons, and this is just one more of them. First of all, is unique because, when the light shines through its windows you will feel like you are inside a raimbow. Also known as the Pink Mosque, this is located in Shiraz.
The Mosque was constructed along with a bathhouse, a school, and a cistern.
Construction of this Qajarid complex took about ten years (1876-1887). Although the mosque was constructed in the Qajar period (1785 to 1925),
it follows some of the architectural forms of the Zand era (1751-1794).
Its main entrance is located on the west of the northern side of the
complex. It is a rectangular portal with a large wooden door in the
middle of an arch and stands in an asymmetrical relation to the
building. A poem by Shurideh Shirazi, a 19th-century poet from Shiraz, is written on the marble stone installed over the door.
How to visit:
The entry fee is 2 euros, and the mosque is closed on Fridays and often is open from 8am – 12.30pm and after lunch from 3.30pm to 5.30pm. The best time to visit the splendor of light passing through the stained
glass in the prayer hall is before 9:00 o’clock AM in Autumn and
winter, and before 11:00 o’clock AM in Spring and summer. Also, women are not required to wear a chador in the mosque. Regular Iranian
dress code applies to both men and women visiting the mosque.
