Bimmah Sinkhole - Oman

by - abril 10, 2020

I think this is one of the most amazing swimming holes you'll ever swimm in, with it's clear blue water in the middle of the beautiful Oman geology. Located in one of the most beautiful countries in Middle East, and is just 1.5 hours from Muscat and 55 minutes from the town of Sur.

Bimmah Sinkhole serves a unique natural phenomenon -  It is connected to the ocean through a small underground tunnel, which results in having water that tastes fresh but salty at times. And there are actually tiny fishes swimming there, which can do pedicure: the massage provides a nibbling and ticklish sensation that will leave your feet dead-cells-free ahah!!

Geologists have confirmed the 20 meters deep pool is in fact a sinkhole (it was caused naturally due to underground water carving away the rocks and caving in the waters), but locals hold on to the legend that a meteorite hit the spot. Wouldn't it be great if you could swimm in a meteorite hole? Totally would go for my bucket listt!!

How to visit:
It's actually really easy to visit if you have your own car or if you want to book a tour. People usually spend 45 min here. It's located near other great actractions in Oman like Wadi Shab, Tiwi and Wadi Al Arbeieen, so I would suggest to you some research to have the maximum experience before you go :)

There are a lot of combined tours and solo ones too, just check this link:
